Samim Akgönül

Prof Samim Akgönül is a historian and political scientist. He is the Director of the Department of Turkish Studies at the University of Strasbourg. He also leads the research team on Religions and Pluralism at the French National Centre for Scientific Research. Akgönül’s research focuses on the history and politics of Turkey; relations between religion, society and the state; immigrant communities and especially old and new minorities. Akgönül has published many books and articles in French, English and Turkish and has been translated into other languages.
